Unconditional love, simply put, is love without strings attached. It's love you offer freely. You don’t base it on what someone does for you in return. You simply love them and want nothing more than their happiness. This type of love, sometimes called compassionate or agape love, might sound somewhat familiar.
He never stops loving us
Although we are commanded to repent our sins and strive towards the way of God, He never stops loving us in our journey to righteousness. The Bible shows us that God’s unconditional love never fails and is not motivated by personal gain.
But God... Let's talk about it
God indeed has loved all of us unconditionally. Even though we were rebellious, living a sinful life, and ignoring His law and love at times, we are in a world full of wickedness, selfishness, and hatred, a world full of vengeance, unfriendliness, and hurtfulness, no wonder! The Bible says “For when we were yet without strength in due time Christ died for the ungodly”, “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die”, “But God commandeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” - Roman 5:6-8. This is unconditional love, He (Jesus) left His glory above and come to this world of sin to save man but He was mocked, scourged, and ridiculed by the same men he came to rescue. Yet, that did not stop Him from fulfilling His God-given purpose and assignment. His love is safe and secure and you can always count on it. (Psalm 103:8-11; Deuteronomy 7:9) Because He loves us unconditionally, He is also gracious and merciful, willing to forgive our sins (1 John 1:9; Daniel 9:9).
That is unconditional love and Jesus said in John 13:15, “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. His clear command is “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love”, “This is my commandment that ye love one another, “AS I HAVE LOVED YOU”- John 15:9 and 12. Jesus love for mankind is unconditional and He has commanded us to love the same way, let us, therefore, go into our hostile and unfriendly world to demonstrate Christ’s, unconditional love.
Some of us women have been abused, bruised, and abandoned, many are in hopeless, helpless situations and feel worthless, let us go to them with the unconditional love of Jesus.
A story was told of a poor boy passing by a grocery store, he was attracted to the snacks and wished to have a taste but it was far from his reach, he could only wish. While lost in his thought and sorrowful state, a man who noticed the poor boy’s desire bought varieties of the snacks and handed them to the poor boy. The boy was overjoyed, with teary eyes, the boy held the hand of the man and asked, “Are you, Jesus”?
Perhaps, you are in a situation and feel no one loves you – Jesus loves you and died for you or you think you have dominated too much sin that you cannot be forgiven? I tell you “NO”. Jesus said “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I give you rest”-Matt.11:28. Jesus' love is unconditional, just go to Him as you are and watch Him transform your life.
I challenge you
Wives maybe... just maybe there are moments when your husband who seems to be hostile and difficult CHOOSE to love him unconditionally. To that child who has gone wayward ad uncontrollable conquer him/her with Christ's unconditional love. To our friends, neighbors, and the community, let us demonstrate the unconditional love of Jesus.
By this, we will make our world a better place to live in.
Dear, Heavenly Father I thank you for giving me the gift of love and to be loved. Yet, I know there is no love quite like the unconditional love that you provide to me. Unlike anyone else you have loved me when I made mistakes, made poor choices, or just flat out was a mess but there you were always loving on me even during the times I couldn't feel it. Help me to experience the unconfined love that you have for me in a new and fresh way. Remind me in the hard moments that your love for me is not based upon good works, embracing the truth that nothing can separate us. Love is a gift, but not just any gift it's your special gift to me. Today I fully lay down all fear, pain, rejection, bad thoughts, or anything that would keep me from being fully able to receive all the unconditional love that awaits me. As you allow me to fully experience the gift of this love allow me to be a blessing to those around me, by showing love by your grace to others, so that you may be glorified. In Jesus Name, Amen!
